Delicious Buttermilk Chicken Strips without Buttermilk

When you’re solo camping, bringing along a full bottle of buttermilk just to make a few chicken strips would be wasteful if you don’t have other uses for it. I found a way to make a fake buttermilk with regular milk and vinegar.

Ingredients

About 3 Chicken Strips
1/4 Cup Milk
1 Teaspoon Vinegar
Paprika
Garlic Powder
Flour
Bread Crumbs
Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. Mix the milk and Vinegar, let it sit in a warm place for 15 minutes, this makes the buttermilk
  2. Add some Paprika and Garlic Powder to the “Buttermilk”
  3. In a small ziplock type bag, marinate the Chicken Strips in the “Buttermilk” for at least 30 minutes
  4. After the chicken is done marinating, start heating the Vegetable Oil in a skillet
  5. Mix equal parts Flour and Bread Crumbs. Add some more Paprika and Garlic Powder
  6. Dredge the Chicken Strips in the flour mix and place in hot oil
  7. Cook in the oil until the internal temperature of the chicken is at least 165 Degrees

Notes

  • This could also be cooked over the fire pit

  • Match to the dip of your choice
