Delicious Buttermilk Chicken Strips without Buttermilk
When you’re solo camping, bringing along a full bottle of buttermilk just to make a few chicken strips would be wasteful if you don’t have other uses for it. I found a way to make a fake buttermilk with regular milk and vinegar.

Ingredients
About 3 Chicken Strips
1/4 Cup Milk
1 Teaspoon Vinegar
Paprika
Garlic Powder
Flour
Bread Crumbs
Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- Mix the milk and Vinegar, let it sit in a warm place for 15 minutes, this makes the buttermilk
- Add some Paprika and Garlic Powder to the “Buttermilk”
- In a small ziplock type bag, marinate the Chicken Strips in the “Buttermilk” for at least 30 minutes
- After the chicken is done marinating, start heating the Vegetable Oil in a skillet
- Mix equal parts Flour and Bread Crumbs. Add some more Paprika and Garlic Powder
- Dredge the Chicken Strips in the flour mix and place in hot oil
- Cook in the oil until the internal temperature of the chicken is at least 165 Degrees
Notes
-
This could also be cooked over the fire pit
-
Match to the dip of your choice
